Basketball Recap: Xavier Ledet Key Part of a Team Effort in Cobras Win

Cactus posted their biggest win since January 31st on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Rio Rico Hawks as the Cactus Cobras made off with a 60-34 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Cobras as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Cactus got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Xavier Ledet out in front who went 10 of 21 on his way to 22 points in addition to seven boards and five assists. Ledet's afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aden Thiesse, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.

Cactus picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-6. As for Rio Rico, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-12.

Cactus and Rio Rico could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings. Cactus (ranked 263rd) will meet Paradise Valley (ranked 88th) at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Meanwhile, Rio Rico (ranked 286th) will meet Walden Grove (ranked 120th) at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
