Even though the Hamilton Wildcats have not done well against the Melrose Golden Wildcats recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Hamilton narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Melrose 52-49. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Hamilton.
Leading Hamilton to victory were Amare Boothe and Jamyah Minnis. Boothe scored 23 points along with seven assists and two steals, while Minnis shot 5-for-7 from beyond the arc and almost dropped a triple-double on 29 points, ten rebounds, and nine steals. That makes it 19 consecutive games in which Boothe has scored at least a third of Hamilton's points. Zanaiyah Woods was another key contributor, scoring no points along with ten rebounds and four steals.
Hamilton pushed their record up to 7-14 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Melrose, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-13.
Hamilton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Melrose also has no future games currently scheduled.
