Patrick Cousineau looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
At the plate, Nolan Ignacio and Jackson Anthony did most of the damage at the plate: Ignacio went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base, while Anthony got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases Anthony has posted since back in April. Ryan Whelan was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and one run.
St. Ignatius hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Elyria struck out eight times.
Meanwhile, GlenOak had already won 14 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it 15 on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 22-1 margin over the Titans. The Golden Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Ben Sibert looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Quincy Mazeke was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Olbon, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.
GlenOak pushed their record up to 24-4 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for St. Ignatius, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.
