The Mountain Range Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 65-38 loss at the hands of Fairview. Mountain Range was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-9.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bella Lucero, who scored seven points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josieraye Running Wolf, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Mountain Range struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Fairview pulled down 23 offensive rebounds.
Fairview's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Remy Tolar led the charge by dropping a double-double on 20 points and 16 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Tolar has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Lila Nuttle, who scored ten points along with three steals and three blocks.
Mountain Range's loss was their 11th straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.5 points per game. As for Fairview, their win bumped their record up to 5-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mountain Range will square off against Prairie View at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Prairie View is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. As for Fairview, they will head out on the road to challenge Fossil Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
