The Ozaukee Warriors fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Living Word Lutheran Timberwolves on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 67-66 to the Timberwolves. While losing is never fun, Ozaukee can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 312th, while Living Word Lutheran is ranked 71st).
Living Word Lutheran found their leader in underclassman Delaney Winkelmann, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists. The game was Winkelmann's third in a row with at least ten points. Kaleah Alles was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with seven rebounds.
Ozaukee has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Living Word Lutheran, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ozaukee will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Sheboygan County Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 15th. As for Living Word Lutheran, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Heritage Christian at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Heritage Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight two weeks ago.
