The Mount View Golden Knights will head out to square off against the Greater Beckley Christian Crusaders at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Mount View is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.3 runs per game this season.
16 must be Mount View's lucky number: they beat Summers County with that score not once but twice on Wednesday. In other batting news, Kayleigh Rose was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted over her last 14 matches. Another player making a difference was Malayah Barnes, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Mount View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .694. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Greater Beckley Christian came tearing into Tuesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Golden Knights. That's two games straight that the Crusaders have won by just one run.
Leah Adkins made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Adkins was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aislinn Pelfrey, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Kynsleigh Pelfrey was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.
The win got Greater Beckley Christian back to even at 5-5. As for Mount View, their victory bumped their record up to 13-6.
