The Abbeville Christian Academy Generals will head out to challenge the Holmes County Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Abbeville Christian Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.7 runs per game this season.
Holmes County will be up against a hot Abbeville Christian Academy squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Generals blew past Chipley 9-3 on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Generals, who have now won three contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Annston Braddy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Alli Kate Causey, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Lizzy Stewart was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
Abbeville Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Holmes County was not the first on the board on Monday, but they got there more often. They had just enough and edged out Altha 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Blue Devils have posted against the Wildcats since April 30, 2019.
Bri Adams was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Adams was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Lyndsey Pilcher was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Ava Jones, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Holmes County is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Abbeville Christian Academy, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Abbeville Christian Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .484. However, it's not like Holmes County struggles in that department as they've averaged .314. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Abbeville Christian Academy couldn't quite finish off Holmes County when the teams last played back in February and fell 7-5. Can the Generals avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
