The Southeast Whitfield County Raiders fell victim to the Central Lions''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were dealt a 61-0 defeat at the hands of the Lions. Southeast Whitfield County's defeat continues a unfortunate trend for the team, making it six in a row.
Central's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cameron Bolton, who rushed for 63 yards and two touchdowns. Zaylend Person also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Southeast Whitfield County's defeat was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 14-1 Cedartown and 5-3 Heritage (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 69.7% over those games). As for Central, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.
Southeast Whitfield County will be playing at home against Cedartown at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Cedartown presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Southeast Whitfield County in Georgia (Cedartown is ranked 97th, while Southeast Whitfield County is ranked 425th). As for Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Northwest Whitfield at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
