The Antioch Bears were the 64-48 winner over the Marshall County Tigers when they last played one another back in December of 2015, but their luck changed this time around. Antioch took a 78-69 hit to the loss column at the hands of Marshall County on Wednesday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Saturday (65), Antioch still had to take the loss.
Marshall County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jamahl Gentry led the charge by scoring 27 points along with five assists and three steals. Those 27 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Aja Jones, who scored 20 points.
Antioch's loss dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Marshall County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Antioch is on the road again on January 5, 2024 and play against Glencliff at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Glencliff is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. Marshall County won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Union City at 4:00 p.m. on December 28th. Union City knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matches -- so hopefully Marshall County likes a good challenge.
