The Nitro Wildcats will take on the Teays Valley Christian Lions in a holiday battle at 9:30 p.m. on Friday at. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Nitro entered their tilt with Sissonville with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Nitro sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 55-52 win over Sissonville on Tuesday.
Among those leading the charge was Ashton Crouch, who scored 21 points along with nine rebounds. The game was his third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Timmy Lovejoy, who scored nine points along with six assists.
Meanwhile, Teays Valley Christian didn't have too much trouble with West Logan Christian Academy at home on Tuesday as they won 86-72. The victory was just what Teays Valley Christian needed coming off of a 93-67 loss in their prior matchup.
Teays Valley Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maki Cary led the charge by scoring 32 points along with six assists. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Cary has scored at least 25% of Teays Valley Christian's points. Another player making a difference was Wade Browder, who scored 25 points along with six rebounds.
Nitro's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Teays Valley Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
