The Sylmar Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their seventh straight loss. The match between Sylmar and Price wasn't particularly close, with Sylmar falling 68-54. While losing is never fun, Sylmar can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 673rd, while Price is ranked 205th).
Despite the defeat, Sylmar saw an underclassman step up: Joseph Dickson scored 22 points along with 3 steals. Dickson scored a full 40.7% of Sylmar's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Nathan Lee was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with 3 steals.
Sylmar's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Price, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.
Sylmar will be playing at home against Reseda at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Price will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Redondo Union at 4:30 p.m. on December 6th. One thing working in Redondo Union's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
