Victory Christian Academy is a perfect 7-0 against Oasis Christian since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Storm will take on the Lions at 7:00 p.m. Victory Christian Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
Victory Christian Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over Bartow. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Storm as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Landon Cuzzone spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Collin Strickland, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Nate Thomas, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Oasis Christian unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Ruskin Christian by a score of 9-8.
Michael Gonzalez put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero). He was even better at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Landon Gall made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-5. Oasis Christian is 7-2 when Gall posts two or more runs, but 4-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Earls, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles.
Victory Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 14-9. As for Oasis Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 11-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Victory Christian Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Oasis Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Victory Christian Academy took their victory against Oasis Christian in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Storm since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
