Clovis never got on the board in their matchup on Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Jal on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 19-7 victory. With that win, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.
Kiara Noack made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. Noack was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Clovis got a massive performance out of Zamira Quinones-Marez, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-5. Nataly Castillo was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Clovis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .612. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jal only posted an OBP of .469.
Clovis' first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Jal, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.
