After flying high against Tri-State Christian last Friday, Unity Christian came back down to earth. Despite the defeat, Unity Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Maddy Wilbur dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Julia Van Kampen was another key player, putting up 12 points.
Even though they lost, Unity Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Quad Cities Christian only posted five assists.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Quad Cities Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ayda Kyer, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Kyer has scored at least a third of Quad Cities Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Raegan Ochkie, who posted 14 points and seven boards.
Unity Christian's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Quad Cities Christian, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-14 record.
Unity Christian will welcome Pathway Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Unity Christian is facing Pathway Christian at the right time seeing as Pathway Christian is stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
