The Hallsville Bobcats will head out on the road to face off against the Mt. Pleasant Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hallsville has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since September 1.
Two weeks ago, Hallsville didn't have quite enough to beat Pine Tree and fell 10-7. While losing is never fun, Hallsville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 500th, while Pine Tree is ranked 195th).
Meanwhile, Mt. Pleasant took a serious blow against Pine Tree on Friday, falling 41-14. Mt. Pleasant has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Hallsville's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-0 Texas and 8-1 Kilgore (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 68.2% over those games). As for Mt. Pleasant, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
Everything came up roses for Hallsville against Mt. Pleasant in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as the squad secured a 38-8 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hallsville since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
