After flying high against the Pittston Patriots last Friday, the Dallas Mountaineers came back down to earth. The matchup between Dallas and Hazleton Area wasn't particularly close, with Dallas falling 58-42. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Dallas of the 55-51 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.
It was another big night for Luis Guzman, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds for Hazleton Area. Guzman continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Joey Marshall, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Dallas' loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-5. As for Hazleton Area, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season.
Dallas will head out on the road to take on Wilkes-Barre at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. Wilkes-Barre is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games. As for Hazleton Area, they will take on Executive Education Academy Charter School at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Executive Education Academy Charter School knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six games -- so hopefully Hazleton Area likes a good challenge.
