Garfield has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against The Roosevelt Rough Riders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Garfield has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 469 points over their last nine games.
Garfield can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 42-7 victory over Legacy. Given Garfield's advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 215th, while Legacy is ranked 652nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Among those leading the charge was Damian Cabrera, who threw for 261 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 13.1 yards per attempt. Cabrera is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Robert sanchez, who rushed for 90 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Roosevelt can now show off three landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They put the hurt on South Gate with a sharp 46-20 win. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Roosevelt's 12-point performance the match before.
Garfield's victory was their eighth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9 South Gate and 2-7 Golden Valley (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 32.9% over those games). As for Roosevelt, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.
Garfield beat Roosevelt 16-8 in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Does Garfield have another victory up their sleeve, or will Roosevelt turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
