San Antonio Memorial is 0-3 against Cuero since December of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The San Antonio Memorial Minutemen will be staying on the road to face off against the Cuero Gobblers at 6:30 p.m. on January 16th. San Antonio Memorial will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1460th, while Cuero is ranked 201st).
Last Friday, things could have been worse for San Antonio Memorial, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 34-19 loss to Young Women's Leadership Academy.
Meanwhile, Cuero came tearing into Friday's game with 13 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They really took it to Gonzales for the full four quarters, racking up a 70-28 victory on the road. Cuero has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 matches by 26 points or more this season.
Arissa Carbonara was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 16 rebounds. She hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for nine straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Bowles, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.
San Antonio Memorial bumped their record down to 2-23 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Cuero, their victory bumped their record up to 26-3.
San Antonio Memorial was dealt a bruising 67-15 loss at the hands of Cuero in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Carbonara, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 16 rebounds.
