Baseball Recap: Beverly Comes Up Short

Beverly lost against Gloucester back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Panthers fell just short of the Fishermen by a score of 4-3. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Graham Gavin was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out 11 batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Callan McCay made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Mikey O'Leary also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Beverly now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Gloucester, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Beverly will square off against Peabody Veterans Memorial at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tanners will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Gloucester, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Winthrop at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
