The West Rowan Falcons will take on the Salisbury Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Salisbury took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on West Rowan, who comes in off a win.
West Rowan took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 23-21 win over Northwest Cabarrus.
West Rowan's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brant Graham, who threw for 237 yards while picking up 11.3 yards per attempt, and also punched in one TD on the ground. What's more, Graham racked up 16 rushing yards, the most he's had since back in August. West Rowan's leading receiver Brennon Stevenson was Graham's top target yet again, picking up 185 receiving yards.
West Rowan was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 208 rushing yards. They are 5-1 when they've run for more than 200 yards.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 11 points in total. All came from Carter Durant: he went 3-for-3 kicking field goals for nine points, and 2-for-2 kicking extra points for an additional two.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 42 points the game before, Salisbury was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (42-7), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. They were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-7.
West Rowan is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season. As for Salisbury, they dropped their record down to 2-7 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Everything went West Rowan's way against Salisbury in their previous meeting back in August of 2022, as West Rowan made off with a 31-7 victory. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Hornets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
