Baseball Recap: Greenfield Gets the Win

Greenfield barely beat North East Carolina Prep the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Greenfield Knights' pitchers stepped up to hand the North East Carolina Prep Husky a 20-0 shutout on Tuesday. That's more bragging rights for the Knights, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Clark Johnson made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Greenfield got a massive performance out of Simon Quinn, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. The dominant performance gave Quinn a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Garrison Wester, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.

Greenfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .718. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North East Carolina Prep only posted an OBP of .176.

Greenfield now has a winning record of 2-1. As for North East Carolina Prep, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Greenfield will take on Faith Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for North East Carolina Prep, they will face off against Hobgood Charter at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
