The Brimley Bays's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of Gaylord by a score of 59-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Brimley's loss came despite strong showings from Trey Lynn and Perry LeBlanc. Lynn scored 23 points along with eight rebounds and four steals, while LeBlanc dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. Lynn is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jay Tagerson, who scored two points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Gaylord got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Luke Gelow out in front who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Cayden Keck, who scored 17 points along with five assists and two blocks.
Brimley has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Gaylord, their win bumped their record up to 6-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brimley will take on Rudyard at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rudyard presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Brimley in Michigan (Rudyard is ranked 266th, while Brimley is ranked 562nd). As for Gaylord, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Alpena at 7:00 p.m.
