Lehi and Pleasant Grove are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. The Pioneers are taking a road trip to take on the Vikings at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Pleasant Grove's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Tuesday: Lehi hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Pioneers' pitchers stepped up to hand Lone Peak an 11-0 shutout on Thursday.

Mya Maughan and Sophie Bliss did most of the damage at the plate: Maughan went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Bliss got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Bliss has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hadlie Hansen, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Pleasant Grove had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 16-2 win.
Pleasant Grove let Maya Parry and Maile Larsen run wild. Parry went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs, while Larsen went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Grace Norman was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one double.
Pleasant Grove kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive contests.
Lehi pushed their record up to 15-8 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Pleasant Grove, their record is now 17-5.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lehi hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .341. However, it's not like Pleasant Grove struggles in that department as they've averaged .457. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lehi couldn't quite finish off Pleasant Grove in their previous matchup on April 10th and fell 5-3. Can the Pioneers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
