The biggest upset of the week belonged to Montebello, who took down 429th ranked Bell Gardens, 29-7. Isaac Mendibles ran for 148 yards and caught 3 passes for 34 yards in the win.
The Oilers scaled the state rankings by moving to 476 from 532 this week, the biggest jump in Almont. Montebello climbed the ranks as a result of defeating the Lancers 29-7.
Pete Gonzalez's team's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Angel Hernandez threw for 39 and 1 touchdown and Edgar Gonzalez had 48 yards receiving. On the ground Mendibles contributed 148 yards. Mendibles helped Montebello's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 34 yards.
Mendibles was a passing and rushing force as the Oilers beat Bell Gardens. Mendibles' key target this week was Gonzalez, who caught 2 passes for 48 yards.
Hernandez put up the best numbers through the air as Montebello bested Geoff Ackerman's team.
Montebello's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Oilers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Carlos China has thrown for 756 yards and 7 touchdowns this season, while Gonzalez has 16 catches for 543 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when San Gabriel takes on the Lancers. The Matadors are in fourth place, while Bell Gardens is in second place.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, the Oilers beat the Lancers 29-7. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
