The Jackson Jaguars had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 42.7 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Wednesday. They walked away with a 55-47 win over Midtown. That's another feather in the cap for Jackson, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Jackson found their leader in underclassman Kennedie Cooper, who scored 18 points along with seven steals. Cooper is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Shakira Gresham, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Jackson pushed their record up to 14-1 with that victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 30 points. As for Midtown, their loss dropped their record down to 13-3.
Jackson will head out on the road to take on Villa Rica at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Villa Rica is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for Midtown, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Banneker at 6:00 p.m. Banneker will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 376th, while Midtown is ranked 33rd).
