Baseball Recap: Alleghany Takes a Loss

Alleghany managed to slip by North Wilkes the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Alleghany lost 15-6 to North Wilkes on Thursday. The Trojans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Damon Davis put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off two hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, John Atwood made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 4-for-4. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Elijah Barker, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Alleghany dropped their record down to 2-10 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for North Wilkes, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-6.

Looking ahead, Alleghany will take on North Stokes at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. North Stokes' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Alleghany's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for North Wilkes, they will challenge Wilkes Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Wilkes Central will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
