Baseball Recap: South Panola Finds Home Field Redemption Against Lake Cormorant

There's no place like home for South Panola, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Lake Cormorant on Monday. Considering the Tigers have won seven contests by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Anson Bright was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Holden Daleke was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. South Panola is undefeated when Daleke posts two or more runs, but 5-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamarion Ingram, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

South Panola was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

South Panola pushed their record up to 11-8 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Lake Cormorant, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.

South Panola is taking a road trip to take on Olive Branch at 7:00 p.m. on the 8th. The Tigers are facing the Conquistadors at the right time seeing as the Conquistadors are stuck on a three-game losing streak. Lake Cormorant has already played their next game (against DeSoto Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
