After flying high against the Rancho Bernardo Broncos last Friday, the University City Centurions came back down to earth. University City fell just short of Westview by a score of 61-58. It was the first time this season that University City let down their fans at home.
University City's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Dylan Griffin, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and four steals, and Ash Aka who scored 17 points along with three steals. Griffin scored a full 27.6% of University City's points, the eighth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ival Momoh, who scored six points along with four steals.
University City's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-5. As for Westview, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
University City will head out on the road to face off against Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Vista knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully University City likes a good challenge. Westview will be home for the holidays to greet Canyon Crest Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Canyon Crest Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 264 points over their last four matches.
