5A District 9 recap November 5, 2013
St. Augustine extended the longest winning streak in 5A District 9 this week by beating Archbishop Shaw, 33-14. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
Holy Cross lost to Archbishop Rummel 28-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Jerry Cook caught 4 passes for 43 yards in the defeat.
Holy Cross' James Tabary and Cook led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-1 quarterback Tabary has thrown for 1,671 yards this season, while Cook has 54 catches for 692 yards. St. Augustine's Leonard Fournette leads the league in rushing yards with 759.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Cyrus Crutchfield's team takes on Jesuit. The Purple Knights are currently in first, while the Bluejays are in fourth.
The Eagles made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,929 from 3,359. The advance stemmed from a 33-14 victory over Archbishop Shaw last week.
