The Monroe Hornets will be home for the holidays to greet the Harrison Wildcats at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
Last Saturday, Monroe took a serious blow against Springboro, falling 78-49. While losing is never fun, Monroe can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 335th, while Springboro is ranked 39th).
Even though Harrison has not done well against Mt. Healthy recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Harrison sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 56-53 win over Mt. Healthy. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Harrison has managed all season.
Harrison's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Donovan Mckain, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mckain has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Tucker Ward, who scored ten points.
Monroe bumped their record down to 2-2 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.0 points per game. As for Harrison, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Monroe came up short against Harrison in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, falling 56-48. Will Monroe have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other basketball content.
