Rio Grande City is 10-0 against the Gladiators since November of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Rio Grande City Rattlers will head out on the road to face off against the Roma Gladiators at 6:00 p.m. Rio Grande City is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Rio Grande City beat the Tigers 33-29.
Roma has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They had to suffer through a rough 53-24 loss at the hands of Palmview. While losing is never fun, Roma can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 652nd, while the Lobos are ranked 226th).
Rio Grande City's victory bumped their record up to 19-14. As for Roma, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 23-13 record this season.
Everything went Rio Grande City's way against the Gladiators when the teams last played back in January as the Rattlers made off with a 46-26 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rio Grande City since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
