The Dugway Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 18th straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by Pinnacle 73-31. Dugway was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-14.
Dugway's loss came despite strong showings from Tanner Thackeray and Hazen Bullcreek. Thackeray scored 12 points, while Bullcreek scored 12 points. Thackeray scored a full 38.7% of Dugway's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trevor Johnson, who scored seven points.
Cole Barton continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Pinnacle, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 13 rebounds. The match was Barton's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Brody Howell, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Dugway bumped their record down to 0-3 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.3 points per game. As for Pinnacle, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.
Dugway will head out on the road to face off against Pinnacle at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Pinnacle is ranked 123rd, while Dugway is ranked 135th). Pinnacle will be home for the holidays to greet Dugway at 1:00 p.m.
