The Springville Red Devils will head out to square off against the Payson Lions at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Springville will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Springville came out on top against Virgin Valley on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run second inning. The Red Devils put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 11-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Red Devils, who have now won five games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Springville let Sami DeLlamas and Jaz Ciliezar run wild. DeLlamas went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Ciliezar went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most RBI DeLlamas has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Addi Crandall, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last matchup, Payson made sure to put some runs up on the board against Pleasant Grove on Thursday. The Lions came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 21-16. The Lions' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
London Armstrong and Aydrie Christensen did most of the damage at the plate: Armstrong went 4-for-5 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Christensen went 1-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Macie McCandless also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Payson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are 4-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Springville's record now sits at 8-1. As for Payson, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Springville hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Payson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
