AAAAAA Region 7 recap September 17, 2013
Fans got a thrill when Chance Thrasher and Brandon Johnson connected against Duluth. The connection went for 84 yards, the longest such play in AAAAAA Region 7 this season.
Theo Burnette of the Wildcats ran for the longest rushing play in the league this season against Peachtree Ridge last week. Burnette ran for 80 yards on the play and finished with 96 on the day as his team fell to the Lions.
Peachtree Ridge's dynamic duo of Thrasher and Johnson proved to be unstoppable against Jason Conner's team, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Thrasher threw for 388 yards and 4 touchdowns and Johnson had 261 yards receiving. Tyler Campbell helped Peachtree Ridge's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 40 yards.
Mark Fleetwood's team's dynamic duo of Thrasher and Johnson proved tough for the Wildcats to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Josh Boyd was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 102 yards on 20 carries as Norcross topped Duluth. Teammate KaDarius Garrett added to the ground attack by rushing for 17 yards.
Johnson was the best wideout in AAAAAA Region 7 this week as Peachtree Ridge beat the Wildcats.

On the heels of Thrasher and Jordan Ellis, the Lions have had great success on offense. Thrasher leads the league in passing with 674 yards, while Ellis has rushed for 314 yards this season. North Gwinnett's Nate Brown leads the league in receiving yards with 279 on 17 catches.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Mill Creek and Peachtree Ridge. The Hawks comes into the matchup ranked 14th in the state, while the Lions ranks 18th.
Two highly praised recruits will be in the spotlight when the Blue Devils and Duluth meet this week. Norcross features high profile defensive end Lorenzo Carter while the Wildcats has Jamyest Williams, a sought after freshman.
There should be lots of points scored when Mill Creek and Peachtree Ridge face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Shannon Jarvis' team comes in having scored 124 this season, while the Lions have scored 106. The Hawks scored 42 points last week as they defeated Mountain View.
Habersham Central fell to Collins Hill 55-3 last week, the largest margin of any game.
