Franklin Regional has gone 7-2 against Kiski Area recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Panthers will host the Cavaliers at 4:00 p.m. The last three games Franklin Regional has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Tuesday, Franklin Regional needed a bit of extra time to put away McKeesport. They skirted past the Tigers 6-4.
Mia Martz tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Toryn Fulton was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Ava Rhoten also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kiski Area). Everything went their way against Gateway on Monday as they made off with a 16-2 win. The victory continues a trend for the Cavaliers in their matchups with the Gators: they've now won five in a row.
Aubrey West spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits and racked up ten Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kyla Hutcherson, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Morrow, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
The win got Franklin Regional back to even at 2-2. As for Kiski Area, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Franklin Regional hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Kiski Area struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Franklin Regional was able to grind out a solid win over Kiski Area in their previous matchup back in April of 2023, winning 6-3. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Cavaliers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
