If the Heritage Christian Eagles were feeling good off their 47-13 takedown of the Greenville Christian Eagles last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Heritage Christian suffered a tough 62-36 defeat at the hands of First Baptist on Friday. Heritage Christian was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-13.
Heritage Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maggy Mcswain, who scored seven points along with seven steals. Mcswain is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Deanna Montgomery, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Leading First Baptist to victory were Meredith Quinn and Emily Kate Jones. Quinn scored 20 points along with nine rebounds and eight assists, while Jones dropped a double-double on 26 points and 13 rebounds. Jones is absolutely dominating the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gianna Brown, who scored six points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Heritage Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for First Baptist, the win was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-3.
Heritage Christian will head out on the road to face off against Trinity School of Texas at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Trinity School of Texas comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 14 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for First Baptist, they will be playing at home against Greenville Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Greenville Christian comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
