This season hasn't been kind to the Temple Tigers, who are still winless after their eighth match. They had to suffer through a rough 70-29 loss at the hands of Carnegie. While losing is never fun, Temple can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 472nd, while Carnegie is ranked 135th).
Duane Cavaness was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds for Carnegie. The game was Cavaness' eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eddie Mandrell, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Temple's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Carnegie, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.
Temple's road trip will continue as they head out to face Healdton on January 6th. Carnegie won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Sterling on January 5th.
