The Hoopeston Cornjerkers suffered their biggest loss since November 21, 2023 on Friday. They were beaten by Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin 72-38. Hoopeston was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-16.
Kendrick Sigerill and Wyatt Eisenman certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Sigerill scored eight points, while Eisenman scored 12 points along with five rebounds. Eisenman continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.
Chaz Dubois continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin, dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Dubois is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Keison Peoples was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with three steals.
Hoopeston's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-9. As for Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 21-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hoopeston on the road again on Tuesday and play against Iroquois West at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. As for Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin, they will take on Chrisman at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chrisman will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 672nd, while Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin is ranked 137th).
