Farmville Central is 3-0 against Northeastern since March of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. Farmville Central has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 25 points or more this season. They really took it to SouthWest Edgecombe for the full four quarters, racking up a 89-37 win at home. With Farmville Central ahead 56-29 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Farmville Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tyler Whitehurst, who scored 23 points along with four steals. The matchup was Whitehurst's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Mykal "MJ" Williams was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with nine assists and three steals.
Meanwhile, Northeastern took their contest at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 82-46 victory over First Flight. The victory was just what Northeastern needed coming off of a 83-54 defeat in their prior contest.
Tyell Saunders was on fire: he scored 22 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Saunders is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Alexander, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Farmville Central pushed their record up to 6-0 with that victory, which was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 33 points. As for Northeastern, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Wednesday's matchup is shaping up to be a scrappy matchup: Farmville Central have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 45 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Northeastern, though, as they've been averaging only 18 rebounds per game. Given Farmville Central's sizeable advantage in that area, Northeastern will need to find a way to close that gap.
