Two dominant backs in Erik Schriver and Austin Rollman are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Cedar Cliff Colts will be playing at home against the South Western Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Cedar Cliff sitting on five straight wins and South Western on six.
Cedar Cliff stacked a sixth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard two weeks ago. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 54-18 win over Milton Hershey. With Cedar Cliff ahead 34-12 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Schriver was his usual excellent self, rushing for 186 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.1 yards per carry. Schriver hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Bennett Secrest, who threw for 199 yards and two touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes.
Meanwhile, South Western strolled past Greencastle-Antrim with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 21-3.
It was another big night for Rollman, who rushed for 192 yards and three touchdowns. Rollman hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for four straight games.
Cedar Cliff's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.4 points per game. As for South Western, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3.
Everything came up roses for Cedar Cliff against South Western when the teams last played back in September of 2015 as the squad secured a 42-14 win. Will Cedar Cliff repeat their success, or does South Western have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
