Section 1 A - 1 recap November 5, 2013
Brewster moved up to 252 from 292 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Section 1 A - 1. The Bears were able to move up by topping Byram Hills 28-7.
Richard Kirwin provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Saunders Trades & Tech fell to Hendrick Hudson. He completed 9 passes for 202 yards and 1 touchdown and also ran for 26 yards. Kirwin's favorite target this week was Owen O'Donoghue, who caught 4 passes for 129 yards.
Derek Hardy was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 96 yards on 11 carries as the Blue Devils fell to the Sailors. Teammate Diego Ferreras added to the ground attack by rushing for 47 yards.
6-foot-3 quarterback Brian Prunty of Lakeland is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,230. He has also thrown 12 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Kyle Catalano. The Brewster star has 37 catches for 605 yards.
Yorktown led the league in scoring this week by notching 37 points on Sleepy Hollow.
