The Twinsburg Tigers will face off against the Geneva Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Twinsburg is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.
Twinsburg is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Hudson just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Explorers by a score of 1-0. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Tigers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Lucas Tinter was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over six innings pitched. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March.
Meanwhile, Geneva was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of Berkshire.
Ryland Besco put in work no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Besco was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Geneva's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-2 (and 1-10 when he doesn't).
Besco wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Oros, who went 1-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Oros is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played.
Geneva's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Twinsburg, their loss dropped their record down to 15-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Twinsburg has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Geneva struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
