Baseball Recap: Arlington Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Arlington made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Roncalli Catholic, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Arlington was the clear victor by a 15-4 margin over Roncalli Catholic on Saturday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by seven runs or more this season.

Peyton Marfisi made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. Marfisi was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, Luke Sharp was incredible, going 3-for-5 with six RBI, two runs, and one double. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Tim Halley was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Arlington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Roncalli Catholic only posted an OBP of .333.

The victory (which was Arlington's third in a row) raised their record to 3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Roncalli Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Arlington will challenge rival Guardian Angels Central Catholic/West Point Beemer at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Roncalli Catholic is set to square off against their familiar foe Elkhorn North at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
