Softball Recap: Make It 14 in a Row for Orange Beach

Orange Beach had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Opp Bobcats on Thursday. The Makos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 34 games by six runs or more this season.

KG Favors was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.

In other pitching news, MK McMullan looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Teagan Revette was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 13 matchups. The team also got some help courtesy of Katie King, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

The win was the 14th in a row for Orange Beach, bringing their record up to 43-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for Opp, they moved to 33-10 with that loss, which also ended their nine-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Orange Beach will square off against West Blocton at 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Makos' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Opp, they have already played their next contest, a 2-1 defeat against Satsuma on the 8th.
