The Conant Cougars suffered their biggest defeat since December 1, 2023 on Monday. They were the victim of a rough 56-33 loss at the hands of Naperville North. While losing is never fun, Conant can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 329th, while Naperville North is ranked 163rd).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Naperville North to victory, but perhaps none more so than Natalie Frempong, who scored 17 points along with five assists and five steals. Frempong hasn't dropped below two steals for ten straight games. Ava Podkasik was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
This is the second loss in a row for Conant and nudges their season record down to 7-14. As for Naperville North, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Conant will square off against Downers Grove North at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Naperville North, they will head out on the road to square off against Downers Grove South at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Downers Grove South is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
