The Cairo Pilots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight defeat. They were beaten by Murphysboro 75-18. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Cairo has scored all season.
Jeserick Pilgram was Cairo's leading scorer, having posted five points.
Cairo has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-18 record this season. As for Murphysboro, their victory bumped their record up to 18-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cairo will take on Lovejoy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Cairo is coming into the game with five straight defeats at home, meaning Lovejoy will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory. Murphysboro will take on Wayne City at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Wayne City will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 642nd, while Murphysboro is ranked 197th).
