Grafton is 8-2 against York since May of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Clippers will head out on the road to square off against the Falcons at 4:30 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Grafton has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while York will arrive with three straight victories.
Grafton came up short against Warhill on Wednesday, falling 7-1.
Meanwhile, York got the win against Tabb on Tuesday by a conclusive 14-1. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won four games by 12 runs or more so far this season.
Sarah Witt and Bri Petrolia were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Witt didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Petrolia pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Witt went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Petrolia scored a run while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Ella Thurman was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. She also launched a home run, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Leslee Maldonado, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
York kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive matches.
York now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Grafton, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Grafton hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.9 home runs per game. However, it's not like York struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.9 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Everything went Grafton's way against York in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Grafton made off with a 12-5 win. Do the Clippers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
