Jada Cruz was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with seven stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Christabelle Valentin, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
As for Overfelt, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.1 runs over those games.
On Overfelt's side, Daijaah Jones made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off one hit. Jones was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, eight RBI, and one stolen base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Ava Chacon was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with six stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Karen Garcia was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Looking ahead, James Lick will take on Yerba Buena at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.67 runs per game on average), something the Comets will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Overfelt, they will square off against Gunderson at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
