Avilika Arana was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, San Jacinto Valley Academy got a massive performance out of Angelina Dominguez, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Meeya Abaoag was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
San Jacinto Valley Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Temecula Prep only posted an OBP of .318.
Meanwhile, Nuview Bridge beat California Military Institute 15-10 on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.
Like San Jacinto Valley Academy, Nuview Bridge also got a great game from a two-way player: Mia Aguiluz. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits. That's the most strikeouts Aguiluz has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Sofia Barrera and Lyla Dixon did most of the damage at the plate: Barrera went 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Dixon went 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. The dominant performance also gave Barrera a new career-high in doubles (two). Vanessa Taylor also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
San Jacinto Valley Academy is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Nuview Bridge, their record is now 10-6-1.
San Jacinto Valley Academy took their win against Nuview Bridge when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
