Volleyball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Wray

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Saturday. Wray walked away with a 2-0 win over Pikes Peak Christian. The victory was familiar territory for Wray, who have now won three games in a row.

Wray didn't let Pikes Peak Christian take a single set, but it sure wasn't easy: every set was decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-23.

Mariah DeLand paced Wray's offense, picking up six kills. DeLand got some help from Emerson Rockwell and her 11 assists.

Despite the loss, Pikes Peak Christian saw an underclassman step up: freshman Eden Lopez had 15 digs. Those 15 digs set a new season-high mark for Lopez. Teagan Villa also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Wray's record now sits at 4-5. As for Pikes Peak Christian, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-2.

Wray has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Calhan on the 13th. As for Pikes Peak Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Denver Waldorf on the 13th.
